Call for Papers:
BEST 1 (Building Enclosure Science and Technology 1) -
June 11-12, 2008 in Minneapolis, MN. -
You are
invited to submit an abstract for a paper and presentation
in either the BMR IV or the EEB track (details).
A written paper will be required for all presentations in
the BMR IV track, and at minimum, an extended abstract and
PowerPoint for the EEB Track. Papers are encouraged for all
presentations, and opportunities for publishing will be
provided in the Journal of Building Enclosure Design
and the Journal of Building
Physics.

RCI Foundation: Symposium on Building Envelope
Sustainability - The Future is in the Balance,
Marriott Wardman Park, Washington,
DC
April 30 – May 1, 2009 - In a continuing effort to support
research, education and the dissemination of information
important to the building industry, the RCI Foundation, in
conjunction with Oak Ridge National Laboratory, National
Institute of Building Sciences, and the National Research
Council Canada is issuing a call for papers concerning
sustainable building envelope design. The two-day symposium
will focus on evolving philosophies concerning the most
cost-effective methods to address construction of
sustainable building envelopes. This is an opportunity to
share your knowledge of this important subject and make a
difference in our industry. The deadline for submitting
proposals for consideration is November 1, 2007. Proposals
should be submitted as a 250-word abstract. A committee
comprised of members from the symposium sponsors will review

In response to increasing local interest, BEC Charlotte
was formed to serve the construction industry in the upstate
North and South Carolina climate region. BEC-Charlotte is a
community of people within the construction industry with
interest and expertise in the design and construction of
building enclosures. Our goal is to improve the design and
construction of buildings in our region by promoting
approaches to enclosure design that are reliable, durable,
