Presenter:
Tomislav Zigo
Over the past 15 years Tomislav Zigo has
been an advocate of digital technology implementation as a
researcher, designer and during past several years as a
designer - builder. His experience includes work in the
vanguard of BIM methodology implementation on large healthcare
projects; research work in the field of Virtual Reality and
Building Performance Analysis; and mentorship positions in a
number of local and national architectural firms while
transitioning toward BIM adoption. Before joining Clayco in
the role of the Director of Virtual Design and Construction
he, was a founding partner of ARBA Studios LC, offering
both architectural design and BIM consulting services.
Tomislav holds a Master of Science degree
in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rijeka in
Croatia and a Master of Architecture degree from Washington
University in St. Louis, where he currently teaches two
courses on the subjects of BIM methodology integration into
sustainable design practice.
Description:
This lecture will take a critical look at
the available software platforms, their capabilities and
applicability for different levels of performance modeling.
By exploring the interaction between the
simulated environment (climate, insolation) and the virtual
building with its physical characteristics (materials,
assemblies, passive design strategies, heat transfer,
daylighting, embedded energy), we will determine how
different software platforms
meet the requirements imposed during the
schematic level of project development.
